Belize Mission March 2016 – Day 14
- Today we start heading back to the airport. Before our trip home we stop by the morning meeting of the Rotary Club of Punta Gorda to report to them on the project and also thank the Club for all their help during the mission. Here President Amber is presenting President Elzena with the Rotary Club of Elyria Flag.
- Thanks Rotary Club of Punta Gorda! Sorry for the out of focus pictures… operator trouble with the camera.
- Going north to the airport we still find the time to drop in by a local waterfall to cool off with Elceedia and her sons. Mario also came along but kept his powder dry.
- Elceedia claims she never lost any of her sons off the back of a pickup… yet. Believe it or not 18 wheelers also come flying through these former railroad bridges that have been converted into bridges for wheeled vehicles. That night we spent with our old friend Rodwell Ferguson at his Macaroni Inn in Pomona, Belize.
- The Mission Team met with the leadership of the Rotary Club of Dangriga for dinner at Ivy’s. From the left are Tori; Amber; Past President and current Treasurer, Judith; former Mayor of Dangriga, current President and President Elect, Gilbert; Secretary and Assistant Governor to the PG Club, Marie; Rotaract President, Ishelly; Mario and Kent.
The purpose of meeting with the leadership of Punta Gorda, Placencia and Dangriga Clubs was to present a proposal for a Global Grant to cover several years and multiple missions. The Punta Gorda Club is to be the Host Club and the Rotary Club of Elyria the International Club. There was a positive response but these decisions take Board approvals from the 4 Rotary Clubs involved. One District 6600 Rotary Club has also expressed an interest in participating in a Global Grant.
Tomorrow morning is our air flights home. One final log will be forthcoming when a complete summary of the mission will be prepared.
